Pocky & Rocky With Becky came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2000, developed by Natsume. You control one of three shrine maidens, Pocky, Rocky, or Becky, and your job is to purify the land by fighting through swarms of yokai and other monsters. The game progresses screen by screen; you clear all the enemies in one area to move to the next. Your main tools are a close range swipe with a gohei and a projectile attack, which you can charge for a more powerful shot. You also have a screen clearing bomb for emergencies. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty can be sharp, with enemy patterns that require quick dodging and careful positioning. Playing it feels like a constant, satisfying scramble to stay alive while pushing forward.
