About Pocket Soccer
Pocket Soccer came out for the Game Boy Color in 2000, developed by Denki and published by Ubisoft. It was one of the many sports titles you could find for the handheld, offering a quick game of football on the go when you were away from your console. The graphics were simple and colorful, fitting right in with the portable games of that time.
You control a team of small, chibi-style players on a top-down pitch. The main goal is to score more goals than your opponent. A signature mechanic is the ability to charge your kicks; you hold a button to build power, then release it to pass or shoot. You can also perform sliding tackles to dispossess the opposing team. The game moves at a fast pace, and matches can become quite frantic, especially against a skilled computer opponent. It feels satisfying to set up a play and watch the ball hit the back of the net.
