Pocket Billiards - Funk The 9 Ball (japan) Game

Pocket Billiards - Funk The 9 Ball is this weird little pool sim for the Game Boy Color that somehow nails the vibe of smoky Japanese arcades. You’ve got these chunky pixel balls that actually roll with decent physics (for a GBC game), and the controls are simple—just line up shots with the D-pad and tap A to adjust power. The "Funk" part? No idea, but the soundtrack’s got this cheesy synth bassline that loops forever.
First thing you’ll notice is how the game forces you to play 9-ball rules—no messing around with 8-ball here. The AI’s brutal if you crank the difficulty, but on normal, it feels like hustling against a slightly drunk salaryman. Also, the pockets are way tighter than they look. Miss by a pixel, and your ball just rattles there, taunting you.
It’s janky in that late-90s handheld way, but weirdly addictive once you get into it. Perfect for killing time between train stops.
