Okay, so this is one of those weird licensed Game Boy Color games that has almost nothing to do with the movie it's based on. You'd think it's a port of the PlayStation Planet of the Apes game, but nope—totally different story, different characters, just the same cover art slapped on. Classic late-90s cash grab.
You play as some random astronaut (not Heston) crash-landing on the ape planet, and it's this weird mix of platforming and really basic combat. The sprites are tiny, the controls are stiff, and the whole thing feels like it was cranked out in a month. Still, there's something oddly charming about how janky it is—like finding a bootleg VHS at a flea market.
Honestly, it's more of a curiosity than a must-play unless you're really into obscure Apes lore or collecting bad movie tie-ins. The apes look kinda funny when they walk, though.
