Planet Of The Apes (e)(venom) Game

Okay, so this GBA version of Planet of the Apes is weirdly different from the PlayStation one—same box art, totally different game. You play as this astronaut who crash-lands on the ape planet (classic setup), but instead of Charlton Heston’s crew, you’ve got a whole new cast. The sprites are tiny but surprisingly detailed, and the first level throws you right into sneaking past gorilla patrols in some overgrown ruins.
Combat’s clunky—you’ve got a stun gun that takes forever to recharge, so most of the time you’re just dodging and hoping the apes don’t corner you. The jungle backgrounds actually look pretty solid for a GBA game, though. Not gonna lie, it’s janky, but there’s something charming about how hard it leans into the B-movie vibe of the original.
