Pitfall - The Lost Expedition on GBA is basically Indiana Jones meets jungle chaos. You're swinging on vines, dodging traps, and punching jaguars—classic Pitfall stuff, but with way more polish than the old Atari days. The controls feel a little stiff at first (this is a GBA platformer), but once you get used to the rhythm of jumping and whipping out your grappling hook, it clicks.
First 10 minutes? You’re immediately waist-deep in ruins, smashing crates for health and figuring out which ledges will crumble under your feet. The art style’s got this chunky, cartoony vibe that works surprisingly well—like someone mashed up Crash Bandicoot with an old pulp adventure comic. And yeah, you’ll definitely fall into a few spike pits before realizing the camera doesn’t always show what’s below you. Trial by fire, literally sometimes.
It’s not perfect—some of the platforming sections feel like they needed one more pass to smooth out the hitboxes—but there’s something satisfying about nailing a tricky swing or finally beating that one obnoxious boss. If you’re into retro action-platformers with a bit of jank, this one’s a solid time killer.
