Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest on GBA is basically a side-scrolling beat 'em up with some light platforming—you know, the kind where you mash buttons to take down waves of enemies while moving through different locations from the movie. It’s got Jack Sparrow’s signature drunken swagger in his animations, which is fun, but don’t expect deep combat. Mostly you’re just slashing through generic pirates and undead crewmen with the occasional awkward jump section.
The levels follow the movie’s plot loosely, so you’ll recognize scenes like the island escape or the waterwheel fight, though the graphics are about what you’d expect from a GBA adaptation—chunky sprites, but decent for the hardware. The soundtrack tries to capture that pirate-y vibe, but after a while, the same sea shanty loop gets old.
It’s not a bad way to kill time if you’re a fan of the films, but don’t go in expecting anything groundbreaking.
