About Pinobee & Phoebee
Pinobee & Phoebee came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2002, developed by Artoon. It was part of that early wave of GBA platformers, arriving when developers were still figuring out what the handheld could do. The game didn't make a huge splash, but it had a certain charm that stuck with some players.
You control Pinobee, a bee-like robot, on a mission to rescue his creator. The gameplay is built around exploration, moving screen by screen through levels filled with enemies and platforms. Pinobee can't attack directly; instead, you bounce on enemies to defeat them, a mechanic that requires careful timing and positioning. You collect Queen Bee Medals to progress, and the levels are often large, encouraging you to search for hidden paths. The pacing is deliberate, and some sections can be surprisingly tricky. It feels like a thoughtful, slightly unconventional take on a platformer.
