Pinky and the Brain: The Master Plan came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2002, a time when the handheld was full of licensed games from cartoons. It was published by Warthog and developed by Warthog, a name you might recognize from other platformers of that era. This game takes the two lab mice from the Animaniacs show and drops them into a side scrolling adventure, which was a pretty common setup for GBA titles based on animated properties.

You control Brain, the one with the grand schemes, while Pinky follows along and can be given simple commands. The main goal is to navigate through a series of themed levels, from a toy store to a medieval castle, to gather parts for a giant robot. Your primary actions involve jumping across platforms, pushing blocks to solve environmental puzzles, and using a shrinking ray to fit into small passages. Some sections require you to switch control to Pinky to use his unique abilities, like a high jump, to access new areas. The pacing is deliberate, focusing more on puzzle solving than fast paced action, and the difficulty can spike unexpectedly in later stages. It feels like a methodical, sometimes fiddly, puzzle platformer where you are constantly managing the strengths of two very different characters.
