If you missed the original Phantasy Star games back in the day, this GBA collection is a solid way to catch up. You get the first three RPGs in the series—all those weird sci-fi planets, turn-based battles, and surprisingly deep stories crammed into one cartridge. The first game feels a little rough now (that 1987 design shows), but II and III hold up better than you'd expect.
What I like is how different each game feels. The first one's this tight dungeon crawler with some brutal difficulty spikes, then II goes full epic with a bigger world and more elaborate plot. III... well, III's the weird one with generation-spanning choices, but that's part of the charm. The pixel art still pops on the GBA screen, especially the enemy designs—robot dragons, alien blobs, all that good retro stuff.
No fancy remakes here, just the classics as they were, warts and all. If you're into old-school RPGs with a space opera twist, it's hard to go wrong with this trio.
