About One Piece - Mezase! King Of Paris (j)(cezar)
I picked up One Piece: Mezase! King of Paris for the Game Boy Advance, a Japan-only release that never made it overseas. It was developed by Cezar, a name you don't see too often, and it landed right in the middle of the GBA's life when portable anime games were everywhere. You take control of Monkey D. Luffy, the stretchy captain of the Straw Hat Pirates, and the goal is straightforward: you're trying to become the King of the Pirates. The game sends you through a series of themed islands, each one a self-contained stage you navigate screen by screen.
Your main actions involve punching and kicking enemies with Luffy's elastic limbs, and you can find temporary power-ups that change your attack style. The levels are linear but filled with platforming challenges and simple puzzles, like hitting switches to open new paths. You'll face a boss at the end of most islands, which usually requires learning a specific pattern to defeat. The pacing is brisk, and the difficulty feels fair for the most part, never becoming overly punishing. It feels like a straightforward, action-focused romp through the early parts of the One Piece world.
