About Ojarumaru - Tsukiyo Ga Ike No Takaramono (japan)
Ojarumaru: Tsukiyo ga Ike no Takaramono came out in 2000 for the Game Boy Color, a time when the handheld was full of colorful adventures based on anime. It was developed by KCE Nagoya and published by Konami, fitting right in with other Japanese titles that never made it overseas. You play as Ojarumaru, a young prince from the Heian period who finds himself in the modern day after stealing a powerful demon's scepter.
You guide Ojarumaru through a series of side-scrolling levels, running and jumping across platforms while avoiding enemies. Your main goal is to collect all the golden Oni pieces hidden in each stage to progress. The game uses a simple sword attack to fend off foes, and you can also find power-ups like a bow for ranged combat. The levels are short but require careful timing, and the difficulty can spike unexpectedly in later stages. It feels like a straightforward, cheerful platformer that captures the show's lighthearted spirit.
