About Ochaken No Heya
Ochaken No Heya came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2005, published by MTO. It was part of that late GBA period where you saw a lot of quirky, smaller Japanese titles that never left the country. This one is a puzzle adventure game built around a little yellow dog, and it definitely has that specific, charmingly low-poly look the system was known for by then.
You control Ochaken, a small dog, navigating through a series of single-screen rooms. Your goal is to find the exit in each room, but the trick is you can only move by pushing blocks. The main mechanics involve sliding these blocks to create paths, sometimes to reach a key for a door, other times to trap or avoid enemies. The puzzles start simple but quickly demand you think several moves ahead, as a single wrong push can block your only path forward. It's a methodical, sometimes tense experience where each screen feels like a self-contained logic problem you need to solve. Moving through these quiet, block-filled rooms gives the game a calm but focused feeling.
