Obelix on Game Boy Color came out in 2000, developed by Bit Managers and published by Infogrames. It was part of that wave of licensed games on the handheld, a time when you could find characters from comics and cartoons in simple action adventures. The game puts you in control of Obelix, the indestructible Gaul from the Asterix comics, and your main goal is to rescue Dogmatix, your kidnapped dog, from the Romans.

You guide Obelix through a series of side scrolling levels, punching Roman soldiers and smashing through barrels and crates. The main objective is straightforward: fight your way to the end of each stage to find Dogmatix. Signature mechanics include throwing Romans into the air after hitting them and collecting little roast hams to restore health. The pacing is brisk, and the challenge comes from the increasing number of enemies and environmental obstacles in later areas. It feels like a quick, brawling romp through a cartoon world.
