Network Boukenki Bugsite is one of those weird, obscure Game Boy Color gems that never left Japan. You play as a kid who gets sucked into a digital bug-hunting adventure—think Megaman Battle Network meets Pokémon, but with way more glitchy charm. The alpha version’s a little rough around the edges (hence the title), but that’s part of its appeal—you’re basically playing a prototype full of quirky bugs (both the literal and coding kind).

First few minutes? You’re thrown into a neon grid world, smacking rogue programs with a pixelated bat while dodging corrupted data blobs. The music’s got that classic GBC chiptune vibe, all bleeps and bloops, and the dialogue’s in Japanese, but the action’s easy enough to figure out. Half the fun is seeing what weird error pops up next.
