About Need For Speed Most Wanted (u)(rising Sun)
Need for Speed Most Wanted on the Game Boy Advance came out in 2005, developed by EA Canada. It was one of the attempts to bring a console style racing experience to the handheld, arriving late in the GBA's life when developers were pushing the hardware further. This version tried to capture the spirit of its bigger console siblings on much more limited hardware.
You control a street racer trying to climb the Blacklist, a ranking of the city's top drivers. Your main goal is to win races, earn cash, and buy performance upgrades for your car to take on each rival. Key mechanics include evading the police during pursuits, which adds a layer of tension to simply driving from point A to point B, and the risk versus reward of nitrous boosts for sudden speed. The racing itself is fast and the AI can be aggressive, making you fight for position on narrow tracks. It feels like a condensed, portable version of chasing that number one spot.
