About Nba Jam 2002
NBA Jam 2002 came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2002, developed by Pocket Studios and published by Acclaim. It was part of a wave of sports titles trying to capture the pick-up-and-play spirit on the handheld, a time when you could get a quick game in anywhere. This version aimed to bring the arcade basketball chaos to a smaller screen.
You control a team of two NBA players, running up and down the court in two-on-two matches. The main goal is to outscore your opponent, and the game moves fast. Signature mechanics include the turbo button for quick bursts of speed and the ability to perform exaggerated dunks that sometimes shatter the backboard. You can also steal the ball with a well-timed button press and call for alley-oops. The pacing is relentless, with the computer opponents putting up a tough fight on higher difficulties. It feels like a frantic, condensed version of basketball where every possession matters.
