NASCAR Heat 2002 for the Game Boy Advance came out in 2002, a time when racing games on handhelds were starting to get more ambitious. It was published by Infogrames, and it tried to bring a console style NASCAR experience to the small screen. You control a single NASCAR stock car, aiming to win races on oval tracks against a full field of opponents. The core loop involves qualifying for a good starting position, then managing your car and position during the race itself. Key mechanics include drafting behind other cars to gain a speed boost and carefully navigating pit stops for fresh tires and fuel.
