NASCAR Challenge on Game Boy Color is exactly what it sounds like—a stripped-down, no-frills racing game where you just go fast and turn left. The graphics are surprisingly decent for the hardware, with little pixelated grandstands and cars that actually look like NASCAR models (if you squint).
First race in, you realize this isn’t some arcadey racer—you’ll spin out if you floor it around every corner, and drafting behind other cars actually matters. The AI isn’t pushover either; they’ll bump you if you get too reckless. Pit stops are weirdly tense since you’re watching a progress bar while the clock ticks down.
It’s not perfect—the controls take a lap or two to get used to, and the sound effects are basically just engine noise and the occasional screech. But if you’re into old-school racing games, it’s a solid time-killer. Just don’t expect Daytona USA.
