About Mummy Returns, The
I picked up The Mummy Returns for my Game Boy Color back in 2001. It was published by Universal Interactive, one of many games trying to capture the feel of the movie on a handheld. At the time, it was a solid choice if you were into action platformers and wanted something a bit different from the usual Mario or Zelda fare.
You control Rick O'Connell, moving through levels screen by screen. Your main goal is to rescue your son Alex and stop Imhotep. You use a sword for close combat and a whip for attacking enemies from a distance; you also solve environmental puzzles to progress. The game moves at a quick pace, and the difficulty can be unforgiving, especially with some tricky platforming sections. It feels like a straightforward, challenging adventure that keeps you pushing forward.
