I first played The Mummy on the Game Boy Color back when it came out in 2000. It was developed by Konami and tied into the movie, which was common for handheld games then. The Game Boy Color had a lot of these action adventure titles, and this one fit right in with its top down perspective and simple controls.

You control Rick O'Connell, moving him screen by screen through Egyptian tombs and city streets. Your main goal is to stop the mummy Imhotep from unleashing his curse. You use a sword for close combat and a whip for hitting enemies at a distance; you also solve basic puzzles, like pushing blocks to open new paths. The game moves at a steady pace, but some rooms have tricky enemy placements that can catch you off guard. Exploring each area and figuring out where to go next gives the game a straightforward, methodical feel.
