About Mr. Nutz
Mr. Nutz on the Game Boy Color came out in 1999 from Ocean Software. It was part of that wave of colorful platformers that filled the system's library, a time when developers were really figuring out how to use the handheld's palette. You don't hear about it as much as some other titles from that year, but it had a presence.
You control a squirrel named Mr. Nutz, running and jumping through themed worlds to stop an evil owl. The main goal is straightforward: get to the end of each level. You attack enemies by spinning your tail, and you can collect acorns to throw as a projectile. The levels are designed screen by screen, with some vertical climbing and swimming sections mixed in. It moves at a brisk pace, and the challenge comes from precise platforming and enemy placement rather than being overly complex. Playing it feels like a quick, energetic dash through a cartoon forest.
