Monster Rancher Battle Card GB is one of those weird little Game Boy Color gems that never got enough love. It’s a stripped-down version of the monster-raising sim, but with a card battle twist—you’re basically building decks from creatures you’d normally raise on the farm. The pixel art’s charming, and the battles are surprisingly tactical for something this old. At first, I kept losing because I just slapped together whatever cards looked cool, but after a few matches, you start figuring out which monsters actually work together. The AI isn’t pushover-level either, which keeps things interesting. Definitely a solid pick if you’re into obscure retro card games.
