Monster Gate came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2004, developed by Konami. It was part of that era on the GBA where you saw a lot of dungeon crawlers and puzzle hybrids, games that tried to do something a little different with the hardware. This one fit right in, a solid entry that didn't necessarily break new ground but offered a specific kind of challenge.

You control a warrior exploring a massive, multi-level dungeon. Your main goal is to find the key on each floor and reach the exit, all while fighting monsters and gathering gold. The core mechanics are turn-based movement on a grid and card-based combat; every action, from moving one square to attacking, consumes a card from your deck. You have to manage your hand carefully, deciding when to fight for experience and when to avoid enemies to save cards for moving. The pacing is deliberate, almost puzzle-like, because a wrong move can leave you stranded without the cards to act. It feels like a constant, tense calculation of risk and reward as you push deeper into the dungeon.
