Monster Force was a Game Boy Advance release from 2002, developed by Digital Eclipse. It arrived during a period when the handheld was full of licensed games based on cartoons, and this one was no exception, drawing from its own animated series. You control one of three monster hunters, moving through levels screen by screen to clear out waves of enemies. The main goal is to fight your way to the end of each stage, defeating a boss to complete it. Your character uses a projectile weapon with unlimited ammo, and you can collect power-ups to temporarily change its firing pattern, like a spread shot or a more powerful single blast. You also gather keys to unlock doors that block your progress. The pacing is quick, and the difficulty can feel unforgiving if you get surrounded. Playing it feels like a brisk, no-frills arcade challenge.
