About Monopoly (usa, Europe)
Monopoly for the Sega Master System was one of the many video game adaptations of the Parker Brothers classic. Released in the late 80s, it arrived when the SMS was competing directly with the NES, offering a digital version of the property-trading experience for players at home.
You control a token, moving around the board to buy properties, build houses and hotels, and charge rent to bankrupt your opponents. The main goal is to be the last player with money left. Signature mechanics include the property auction when a player declines to buy a landed-on space, and the ability to trade properties and cash directly with other players to complete color sets. The pacing can be slow, especially with the default rules, and the computer opponents provide a decent challenge. It feels like a faithful, if sometimes plodding, translation of the board game onto a small screen.
