About Missile Command
Missile Command on the Game Boy Color came out in 1999 from Hasbro Interactive. It was part of that wave of classic arcade remakes that tried to fit a quarter-munching experience into a pocket-sized screen. The Game Boy Color was full of these kinds of adaptations, and this one aimed to capture the tense, simple action of the original.
You control a crosshair with the D-pad, moving it to aim your anti-missile batteries. Your main job is to protect six cities at the bottom of the screen from an endless barrage of incoming missiles and smart bombs. You fire your counter-missiles with the A button, trying to intercept the threats in mid-air before they hit. The key mechanics are managing your limited ammunition and watching for the distinct, faster-moving smart bombs that can wipe out your missile bases if you're not careful. The pace is relentless; the waves get faster and more complex, demanding quick reflexes and smart shots to survive. It feels like a constant, frantic race against the clock where every shot matters.
