About Mini Moni. : Onegai Ohoshi-sama!
I picked up Mini Moni.: Onegai Ohoshi-sama! back when it came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2002. It was developed by Shogakukan and published by Jorudan, a title that fit right in with the platform's library of quirky Japanese games that never made it overseas. You don't hear much about it now, but at the time it was just another colorful cartridge on the shelf, a game based on the Morning Musume subgroup that felt very much of its era.
You control one of the Mini Moni members, navigating them through a series of single-screen stages. The main goal is to collect all the shining stars scattered in each room before you can exit. Your primary tool is a vacuum cleaner, which you use to suck up small enemies and obstacles, clearing a path to the objectives. The challenge comes from the stage hazards and the enemies that respawn, forcing you to plan your route carefully. It's a straightforward puzzle-action game that moves at a brisk pace, never too punishing but requiring a bit of thought. Playing it feels like solving a small, tidy puzzle with each new screen you enter.
