About Microsoft : The Best
I picked up Microsoft: The Best for the Game Boy Color back when it was new. It was one of those games that came out in 2000, a time when the handheld was full of simple, colorful adventures. I don't remember who exactly made it, but it was part of that wave of late-era releases trying to squeeze a bit more life out of the hardware before the Game Boy Advance arrived.
You control a small character navigating a large, interconnected world screen by screen. The main goal is to explore the overworld and a series of dungeons, collecting key items to unlock new areas. A central mechanic involves using a sword for close combat and a bow for hitting distant switches or enemies. You also spend a lot of time pushing blocks to solve environmental puzzles and find hidden passages. The pacing is deliberate; you can't rush through, as you need to methodically check every corner. The difficulty is fair but requires attention, especially during the boss fights in each dungeon. Playing it feels like slowly piecing together a large, quiet map on a small, green-tinted screen.
