About Microsoft Puzzle Collection
I picked up Microsoft Puzzle Collection for the Game Boy Color back in 2000, a time when the handheld was full of quirky titles. It was published by Capcom, which was known for more action oriented games, so this was a bit of a different release for them. This collection was essentially a set of puzzle games bundled together, offering a more thoughtful alternative to the platformers and RPGs common on the system.
You don't control a character so much as you manipulate tiles and pieces across several distinct puzzle modes. The main objective is simply to solve each puzzle by clearing the board or achieving a specific layout. One mode has you sliding blocks to create a complete picture, while another involves matching colored jewels as they slowly descend. The pacing is generally methodical, though some puzzles can become quite difficult and require careful forward planning. It feels like a quiet, personal challenge that fits perfectly in your pocket.
