Mezase Koushien is one of those classic Japanese baseball sims for the GBA that somehow makes managing a high school team way more intense than it should be. You start off picking your school (good luck if you don’t read Japanese—I just mashed A and hoped for the best), then suddenly you’re deep in training menus, scouting players, and sweating over pitch selections like it’s the actual Koshien tournament.
The pixel art’s charmingly rough, with these little chibi players who somehow convey drama when they strike out or nail a homer. And yeah, it’s all in Japanese, but the baseball mechanics are intuitive enough that you’ll figure it out after a few innings. Just don’t expect to win right away—this game doesn’t go easy on you.
If you’ve ever wanted to experience the stress of coaching a bunch of pixelated teens to glory, this is your chance.
