About Metal Slug Advance (u)(independent)
Metal Slug Advance came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2004, developed by SNK Playmore. It arrived when the GBA library was full of ambitious ports, and this one tried to squeeze the series' chaotic spirit onto the smaller screen.
You control a lone soldier, fighting through five missions against General Morden's army. Your main goal is to survive the enemy onslaught and destroy everything in your path. The game introduces a health bar, a departure from the usual one-hit deaths, letting you absorb a few more bullets. You also collect prisoner cards; finding these scattered throughout the stages unlocks permanent stat boosts and bonus content. The pacing is relentless, with enemies and vehicles pouring in constantly, and the difficulty remains challenging. It feels like a frantic, portable version of the arcade chaos, condensed for on-the-go play.
