Metal Max 2 Kai is one of those weird, underrated GBA gems—a post-apocalyptic RPG where you roam a wasteland in a tricked-out tank, hunting bounties and scavenging for parts. The vibe’s a mix of Mad Max and old-school Dragon Quest, but with way more freedom. You’ll spend half your time customizing your ride with cannons and armor, the other half getting wrecked by random desert monsters until you figure out what works.
Combat’s turn-based but snappy, and the world’s full of oddball side quests (like helping a town overrun by… sentient vending machines?). The translation’s a bit rough since it never left Japan, but that kinda adds to the charm. If you’re into open-ended RPGs where you can just drive off and do your own thing, this one’s a blast. Just don’t expect hand-holding—half the fun is stumbling into trouble and barely surviving.
