Men in Black: The Series on Game Boy Color came out in 1999, published by Crave Entertainment. It was part of that wave of licensed games on the handheld, where you'd often find side scrolling action based on cartoons or movies. This one follows the animated series, not the films, so the tone is a bit lighter and the aliens are more cartoonish.

You control Agent J, and sometimes Agent K joins you. The main goal is to stop alien threats across different levels, moving screen by screen and shooting a variety of alien enemies with your standard issue neuralyzer, which you can upgrade. You also do a fair amount of platforming, jumping between ledges and avoiding hazards. The game can be challenging; enemies respawn when you leave a screen, and some jumps require precise timing. It feels like a straightforward run and gun from that era, where memorizing enemy patterns is part of the process.
