Men in Black: The Series on GBC is one of those licensed games that actually gets it right. You start off in the MIB headquarters, picking between Jay or Kay (I always went Jay—his animations just feel smoother), before getting thrown into these bite-sized missions hunting down aliens hiding in plain sight.
The pixel art nails that late-90s cartoon vibe, and the gameplay’s a mix of side-scrolling action and weirdly satisfying detective work—like scanning civilians to figure out who’s secretly a slimy extraterrestrial. The gadgets help too, especially the neuralyzer for wiping witnesses. Classic MIB nonsense, but it works.
It’s not perfect—some of the platforming can be janky—but for a Game Boy Color tie-in, it’s way more fun than it had any right to be. If you’ve got nostalgia for the show or just like quirky retro action, this one’s worth dusting off.
