About Medarot Nii Core : Kabuto Version

Medarot Nii Core: Kabuto Version came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2000 in Japan, developed by Natsume. It was part of that early GBA wave where portable RPGs were getting more complex, but still felt distinctly like handheld games. You play as a kid who gets a Medarot, which is a customizable robot, and the whole thing is built around collecting parts and battling.

You control your character from a top-down perspective, walking through towns and fields to talk to people and find new Medabot parts. The main goal is to assemble your robot and win fights in the Robattle tournaments. Combat is turn-based; you input commands for your Medabot's three actions each turn, choosing from attacks, guards, and special moves. A big part of the game is the part-swapping. You hunt for new arms, legs, and heads, each piece changing your stats and available abilities. The battles require some strategy, since you have to manage your action points and anticipate what your opponent will do. It feels like tinkering with a custom machine and then testing it in a quick, tactical fight.
