About Medarot 3 - Kuwagata Version (japan)

Medarot 3 - Kuwagata Version came out in 2000 for the Game Boy Color, developed by Natsume and published by Imagineer. It was part of that late era for the handheld, when developers were really pushing what the hardware could do visually and mechanically. You play as a kid who gets a robotic partner, called a Medarot, and your main goal is to compete in tournaments and stop a criminal organization from causing trouble. The world is navigated screen by screen, with towns to explore and people to talk to for advancing the story.

You control your character directly on the overworld, and battles are turn-based encounters fought with your customized Medarot. A big part of the game is collecting various parts to change your robot's type, weapons, and abilities; this customization directly impacts your strategy in fights. The pacing is fairly methodical, as you'll spend a lot of time grinding for better parts or managing your Medarot's limited action points. It feels like a thoughtful and sometimes demanding game where your planning between battles is just as important as the fights themselves.
