Medal of Honor: Infiltrator came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2003, developed by Netherock Ltd. It was part of that wave of World War II shooters, but seeing one on a handheld was still a novelty. You got a surprisingly substantial action game in your pocket, a different kind of experience from the platformers and RPGs that usually dominated the system.

You control a lone operative fighting through Nazi-occupied Europe. Your mission is to advance through a series of hostile locations, sabotaging enemy operations and rescuing Allied prisoners. The game plays from a top-down perspective, moving screen by screen and clearing areas of soldiers and vehicles. You have a selection of period weapons, like the M1 Garand and the Thompson submachine gun, and you can throw grenades into groups of enemies. The pacing is methodical; you often have to hold your ground against waves of attackers while completing an objective. It feels tense and deliberate, a careful balance of aggression and survival on a small screen.
