Medabots: Rokusho Version is one of those GBA gems where you start off with a beat-up little robot and somehow end up obsessing over gear stats by hour three. You pick Rokusho (the beetle-looking one) right away, and honestly, he’s got way more style than the other version’s bot.
The battles are this weird mix of turn-based strategy and rock-paper-scissors—you’ve gotta guess enemy moves while swapping parts mid-fight. At first, I just slapped on whatever shiny armor I found, but then I got wrecked by some kid with a well-built medabot in the back alley. Lesson learned.
Between fights, there’s this goofy story about schoolyard rivalries and a shady organization (of course). The dialogue’s cheesy in that early-2000s anime way, but it’s part of the charm. Just don’t expect deep lore—it’s really about collecting cool robot legs and watching them shoot lasers.
If you ever spent lunch breaks trading Medabots cards as a kid, this’ll hit right in the nostalgia.
