Medabots AX: Metabee Version came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2003, developed by Natsume and published by Imagineer. It was part of that wave of games based on anime, a common sight on the GBA where you could take a portable version of a show you liked on the road with you.

You control a kid who pilots a customizable robot, Metabee, with the main goal of winning the World Robattle Tournament. The core of the game is navigating through a series of 3D arenas, fighting other Medabots in turn-based battles. You build your Medabot by collecting and equipping different parts, like arms and legs, which directly change your available attacks and stats. Between fights, you explore a top-down world map talking to people to advance the story. The pacing is straightforward, moving from one tournament match to the next, and the difficulty comes from managing your limited Medaparts and finding effective combinations against specific opponents.
