About Maze Walker (japan)
Maze Walker was a Japan only release for the Sega Master System, published by Sega in 1987. It came out during a period when developers were experimenting with first person perspectives on home consoles, trying to translate the feel of arcade cabinet games to the living room. This title was one of those attempts, using the Sega 3-D Glasses accessory to create a sense of depth.
You control a lone adventurer navigating a series of stone labyrinths from a first person view. Your main goal is to find the exit on each floor while avoiding or confronting the monsters that patrol the corridors. The game is built on screen by screen exploration, where each step forward reveals a new segment of the maze. Combat is direct; you face enemies head on, swinging your sword when they get close. The pacing is deliberate, requiring you to memorize layouts and plan your route carefully to avoid getting trapped. It feels like a tense, methodical puzzle where every wrong turn carries a consequence.
