I remember playing Maya the Bee: Garden Adventures on the Game Boy Color. It was released in 2000, I think, and published by Acclaim. It fits right in with the kind of colorful, kid friendly platformers that were common on the handheld around that time.
You control Maya the bee, flying and walking through side scrolling levels set in a garden. Your main goal is to find your friend Willy, who has gone missing. You collect pollen from flowers to fill up a meter, and you can use a spin attack to fend off hostile insects like hornets. The levels are straightforward, with some light exploration to find all the required items.
