Max Payne on the GBA? Yeah, it’s actually a thing—and somehow, they made the bullet-time dives and noir vibes work on that tiny screen. You’re still playing as the brooding, revenge-driven Max, popping painkillers like candy and blasting through mobsters in slow-mo. The levels are condensed, obviously, but the dark alleys and grimy apartments still feel right, even with the pixelated blood splatters.
Gunplay’s surprisingly smooth for a handheld port—you’ll duck behind crates, dive sideways while unloading a clip, and yeah, it still feels cool when time slows down mid-air. The story’s stripped down but keeps the key moments: betrayal, dead loved ones, Max muttering grim one-liners. Don’t expect the full console experience, but for a GBA game? It’s shockingly faithful. Just don’t blame me when you catch yourself tilting the screen during shootouts like it’ll help you aim better.
