Matchbox: Emergency Patrol is one of those classic Game Boy Color games that somehow makes driving a tiny pixelated emergency vehicle feel ridiculously intense. You’re basically a first responder tearing through city streets, dodging traffic, and trying not to flip your ambulance like an idiot (which I did way too often at first).
The controls are simple—just steer and hit the gas—but the traffic gets chaotic fast, and those tight turns will wreck you if you don’t brake at the right moment. The graphics are pure late-90s handheld charm, with little buildings and cars that look like they were made of colored blocks. It’s the kind of game where you’ll fail a mission, mutter "one more try," and suddenly lose an hour.
If you’ve got a soft spot for old-school handheld racers or just want something quick and punishing, this one’s a solid pick. Just don’t blame me when you get stuck on that one stupid intersection near the hospital.
