Okay, so Mask of Zorro on Game Boy Color is one of those licensed games that actually doesn’t suck. You play as Zorro—obviously—swinging your sword, jumping across rooftops, and leaving your signature "Z" slashes on enemies. The combat’s simple but satisfying, and the levels have just enough hidden stuff to make exploring fun without being tedious.
First thing you’ll notice? The sprite work is surprisingly good for a GBC game. Zorro’s cape actually flows when he moves, and the towns feel alive with little details like flickering lanterns. The music’s got that classic Spanish guitar vibe, which helps sell the whole swashbuckling thing.
It’s not perfect—some of the platforming can be a little stiff, and the bosses are kinda predictable—but for a movie tie-in, it holds up way better than most. If you’re into old-school action games, this one’s a solid pick.
