About Mary-kate And Ashley - Crush Course
I picked up Mary-Kate and Ashley: Crush Course for the Game Boy Color back in 2001. It was published by Club Acclaim, one of those many licensed games that filled the shelves during the handheld's peak. You play as the Olsen twins, and the setup is simple: some cute boys have invited them to a beach party, but the directions have been lost. Mary-Kate and Ashley must find the missing pieces in time to make it to the party.
You control either Mary-Kate or Ashley, switching between them to explore locations screen by screen. The main objective is to talk to people, find items, and solve small puzzles to recover the lost directions. Signature mechanics include a simple inventory for using objects you find and a day/night cycle that changes which characters are available. The pacing is relaxed, with no real combat or time pressure beyond the overarching goal. It feels like a light, straightforward adventure, more about checking off tasks than facing any significant challenge. Playing it is a calm, undemanding way to pass the time.
