March of the Penguins on the GBA is this weirdly charming little action game where you waddle around as a penguin dodging seals, sliding on ice, and trying not to freeze to death. It’s based on that documentary everyone loved, but honestly, it plays more like a mix of platforming and survival—kinda janky, but in a way that grows on you.
First few minutes? You’re figuring out how to time your hops over cracks in the ice while this cheerful but slightly ominous music plays. The controls take a sec to get used to—penguins aren’t exactly nimble—but once you get the rhythm, it’s oddly satisfying. And yeah, you’ll probably lose a life or two to a surprise seal attack because they pop up out of nowhere.
It’s short, it’s silly, and it’s got that early 2000s handheld vibe where the devs clearly had fun with the concept. Not a masterpiece, but definitely a quirky time if you’re into oddball GBA games.
