Makai Retsuden (japan) Game

Makai Retsuden is one of those weird, late-era Sega Master System games that never left Japan—which is a shame, because it’s got this odd charm. You’re basically thrown into a dark fantasy world where you pick from four characters (I went with the knight first, classic move) and hack through side-scrolling stages filled with skeletons, demons, and other nightmare fuel. The controls are stiff by today’s standards, but there’s something satisfying about the chunky pixel art and that classic 8-bit soundtrack.
It’s not the deepest action-RPG, but if you’re into retro stuff with a creepy vibe, it’s a neat little time capsule. Just don’t expect a walk in the park—those boss fights will wreck you if you’re not careful.
