I picked up Mahou Sensei Negima! Private Lesson: Dame Desu Toshok on the Game Boy Advance back when it came out. It was published by Konami, which made sense given their presence on the handheld. This was during a time when the GBA library was full of anime adaptations, and this one fit right in, offering a different take on the Negima universe compared to the main series.

You control Negi Springfield, a young wizard teacher, navigating a side scrolling world. The main goal is to explore a large, multi floor library, finding specific books to progress. You jump between platforms, use a simple magic attack to fend off enemies, and talk to other characters from the class to get hints. The exploration is methodical, moving screen by screen to uncover the library's layout, and the combat is straightforward but requires timing to avoid taking damage. The pacing is deliberate, with some backtracking as you figure out where to use newly found items or information. Playing it feels like a quiet, thoughtful puzzle tucked inside an action platformer shell.
