Mahjong Quest on Game Boy Color is one of those weird little gems that somehow makes tile-matching feel fresh. Instead of just clearing the board, you're actually moving a little explorer dude across a map, unlocking new areas by solving mahjong puzzles. The Japanese version has this super chill soundtrack that makes it feel like you're playing in some quiet temple garden.

At first I thought it was just another basic mahjong clone, but the adventure mode gives it way more personality. You'll run into locked gates that need specific tile combos, or time-limited rounds where you've gotta think fast. The pixel art's simple but charming – those little cherry blossom tiles are way prettier than they need to be for a Game Boy game.

Fair warning though, some of the later puzzles get brutal if you don't plan your moves ahead. I got stuck on this one waterfall level for like an hour before realizing I needed to save certain matches for last.
