Mahjong Keiji on the GBA is one of those games that looks simple at first—just matching tiles, right? But after a few rounds, you realize there’s way more to it. The tiles have these little details, like faded ink or tiny cracks, and the music’s got this weirdly calming vibe that makes you forget you’ve been staring at the same board for 20 minutes.
It’s not just about clearing tiles, either. Some levels throw in weird rules, like forcing you to match pairs in a certain order, and suddenly you’re second-guessing every move. I remember getting stuck on one puzzle where the last two tiles wouldn’t match because of some hidden rule—turns out I had to clear the corners first. Classic mahjong mind games.
If you’ve played other mahjong games, this one’s got a bit more personality. The animations are simple but satisfying, especially when you pull off a big combo. Just don’t expect it to go easy on you—even the early levels can wreck you if you’re not paying attention.
